Admissions for International Students
An international student is any student who is not a citizen or permanent resident of Australia, a citizen of New Zealand or holder of a Permanent Humanitarian Visa.
International students who wish to apply for a place at the University of Melbourne must have successfully completed a qualifying exam equivalent to the VCE, for example, A-Levels or the International Baccalaureate. International students must also satisfy course entry pre-requisite subjects at the level equivalent to the VCE. Please refer to the Future Students website or the 2009 Undergraduate Prospectus for International Students for academic entry standards.
International students must satisfy the University's English language requirements.
Semester 1, 2009 (March) entry
International students studying in Australia
International students studying an Australian Year 12 or the IB at an Australian secondary school should apply through VTAC or refer to the VTAC guide for more information.
International students studying a foundation program must apply directly to the University.
International students studying in other countries
International students studying outside Australia can either:
- Apply online.
- Submit an application form to the Manager of International Admissions. Download an application form (PDF, 256kb, 4 pages).
- Apply through one of our overseas representatives.
Semester 2 (July) entry
Prospective international students seeking entry to the Bachelor of Commerce in semester 2, 2008 can either:

- Apply through one of our overseas representatives.
International students who are currently enrolled at the University of Melbourne should apply directly to the Faculty. Forms are available from the Commerce Student Centre in the Babel building.
