Management Practicum
This capstone subject, taken in a student’s third year of study, requires participants to draw upon multi-disciplinary knowledge, skills and theory acquired from their previous studies. Students work in teams, with an academic supervisor, as consultants for participating organisations.
Students must spend a minimum of 40 hours at the participating organisation, comprising a regular half day attendance each week and additional appointments as necessary.
Each team undertakes a structured business planning or business development exercise, supported by class work providing tools, techniques and reporting formats. Students learn to work with unstructured and incomplete information, to develop research and networks to support their inquiry, to work successfully in teams, and to present their findings and seek and receive constructive feedback in a range of settings.
Students will also be encouraged to plan, reflect on and modify their approaches to improve the outcomes of their efforts in managing their business project.
