Universitas 21 Certificate in Global Issues

The U21 Global Issues Program is a multi-disciplinary curriculum spanning the boundaries of traditional education, where students will work collaboratively with other students from around the world. It will provide graduates with globally relevant knowledge and skills which will enable them to live and work successfully within the societies they will help lead.

Universitas 21 (U21) is a well-established international network of leading research-intensive universities. Established in 1997, U21 currently includes around 21 member universities from 13 countries across the world. These partner institutions are committed to advancing the internationalisation of education and offer exemplary tertiary study across a variety of disciplines.

The University of Melbourne is the only institution in Australia to offer this unique program. Four universities of the U21 network offer the U21 Certificate in Global Issues:

The subjects (courses or modules) that can be taken are all centred around topics of crucial global importance, such as poverty, sustainability and environmentalism, international trade, security and peace, world health issues, human rights and international law. The number of subjects available will be expanded as new courses and additional universities are added to the programme.

The flexible programme structure allows students to study either online or face-to-face (F2F) at one or more of the participating U21 institutions. Most students will take the subjects online, but may take some subjects F2F as part of a Study Abroad or Exchange experience.
