Graduate Professional Entry Programs
From 2008, the University will introduce a range of new graduate professional degrees which qualify students for professional registration and employment and provide a pathway to higher research degrees. From 2008-2012 at least 50% of designated places in each course will be offered as Commonwealth supported places. A guaranteed 20% of these Commonwealth supported places will be reserved for Graduate Access scholars who have been educationally, financially or socially disadvantaged.
Students enrolling in the University’s graduate professional degrees will have completed a suitable undergraduate degree at Melbourne or another recognised university. The graduate programs will offer highly competitive and specialised professional graduate education in a range of disciplines.

Students will benefit from the University’s strong links to industry, community and professional bodies with access to internships, mentor programs and career support services. Graduate Programs in Commerce
The Melbourne Graduate School of Management offers a number of programs for recent graduates who want a business qualification to help them start their career, or change career path. Most are designed for applicants who do not already have an undergraduate business or commerce degree. Currently these programs are offered only on a full-fee basis, with the exception of the Master of Management suite of programs which also offer Commonwealth supported places.
The honours year and research higher degrees
The honours year comprises a fourth year of study, usually following the completion of the three-year Bachelor of Commerce. Students completing the Bachelor of Commerce with high results can apply to undertake the honours program. This provides an opportunity for students to undertake specialised study and research in an area of interest. The honours program allows students to further develop their analytical and research skills.
Honours graduates can go on to research and research-oriented programs including the PhD and Master of Commerce degrees. These programs develop a student’s advanced theoretical knowledge and research capabilities in preparation for academic and other research-focused careers.
